How to Turn Off Notification Sound on Facebook

The folks using Facebook on frequent basis must have noticed that Facebook has integrated beep along with the notifications you receive on Facebook. This is OK if you are receiving just a couple of notification per day but what for those who receive hundreds of those. This would be bit annoying for them to receive a beep every time they get a notification.

So those must be looking for a way to turn off the beep while using Facebook so that when they receive any notification the beep does not come along with it. This is indeed pretty easy to turn off the Facebook Beep with notification. For this you need to know where you will find the option to do this.

Step 1:

First of all Open Facebook website and hover over to settings button available at the top right corner of the page.

Step 2:

In the settings select Account Settings from the context Menu

Step 3:

Now go to Notifications and click on the link in the left side bar

Step 4:

Click on view link at the first item under How You Get Notifications, On Facebook.

Step 5:

You will be displayed a short description and below that a check box that reads “Play a sound when each new notification is received”. You need to uncheck this and then press Save Changes button.

This is indeed pretty simple. Isn’t it? Now after when you save the changes the beep will not come with every time you receive a notification. However you still have an option to enable it again.
This was the case for the beep sound that comes with notification but what if they are not coming with notifications? This may be due to the chat settings. Every time you receive a chat message, a beep comes along with it.

To disable the chat sound just open the chat window and there you see a gear button at the top right corner for settings. Click on it and you will see an entry named “chat sounds”. If there is a check mark with this entry it indicates that you chat sounds are ON, simple click the entry again to uncheck the option in order to disable the sound notification for chat. In this way you will be saved from these annoying sounds if they were freaking you.
